Voice

Your agent can talk. Voice turns any agent into a real-time conversational partner — you speak, the agent listens, thinks, and replies out loud, streaming as it goes.

In the workspace

Start a live voice call from the chat composer. Speak naturally; the agent responds in real time and can still use its tools, knowledge, and sandbox mid-conversation.

Over the phone

Connect a phone number (via Twilio) so customers can call your agent directly. Phone numbers require a Business plan or above.

Manage voices in Console → Voices, then assign one to an agent. Three voice types are available:

Type What it is Best for
Preset A built-in, ready-to-use voice Getting started quickly
Designed A voice generated from a text description (e.g. “warm, calm, mid-range female”) Matching a brand persona without a recording
Cloned A voice created from a short audio sample you provide Reproducing a specific person’s voice

  1. Go to Console → Voices and pick a preset, design a new voice, or clone one from a sample.
  2. Open your agent and assign the voice in its settings.
  3. Open the agent in the workspace and start a voice call from the composer — or, for phone access, connect a number on a Business plan.

  • Streaming responses — the agent starts speaking as soon as it has something to say, rather than waiting for the full answer.
  • Barge-in — you can interrupt the agent mid-sentence and it will stop and listen.
  • Tools mid-call — the agent can search, query knowledge, or run sandbox actions while you’re talking, then narrate the result.

  • Keep instructions conversational — voice agents read instructions the same way chat agents do, but spoken replies work best when they’re concise.
  • For customer-facing phone agents, define how to handle silence, escalation, and “I didn’t catch that” cases in the instructions.
  • Voice is credit-intensive (30 credits/min in the browser, 54 credits/min over a phone number) — set per-agent credit limits if you expose it to external callers. See Pricing & Credits.
